Great, thought-provoking article. Thanks for sharing. I do feel like new parents are some of the most vulnerable to advertisers, and it’s exactly because of the insecurity (and sleep deprivation) she talks about. It is often so hard to trust your instincts about things. Right now as my babies start to try more solid foods I struggle with this a lot, wondering if this or that is safe for them to eat. But babies have been eating foods that weren’t made in factories and labeled baby food for eons, right?

Correct! And I actually think that it’s much easier to control what they eat when you make their meals yourself. Natural tastes are best. It’s part of learning about the world, part of getting familiar with what the Earth has to offer. I think it’s a very important learning stage in children’s lives. (That said, I do use ready made meals every so often. I find them especially useful when we travel.)
